Or not.
Its up to you if you wanna stick around for my random babbling.
*waits for everyone to get comfortable*
Ok?
So I've got yet another semester of art classes under my belt and my summer class is just around the corner, hopefully I won't totally suck
Life drawing:
Before I took the class I was excited but nervous at the same time. I'd hadn't taken a class like this before so I wasn't sure how I was going to react. The big comfort for me was that I found out that the person who taught the class was someone who subbed for the painting class I was in last semester, and she was funny. I was fine up until 10 minutes before the class started which I then promptly had moment of panic and began mentally pleading with the big guy upstairs for a female life-model for the first class. I figured it would be easier for me to begin with something familiar and I am sure you can imagine my relief when indeed it was a female life-model that walked in. All my worrying was for nothing though since even when the next class it was a male life-model I was A-ok. In case you haven't figured it out already, I love drawing poses and mainly focusing on the body and body language. So yes, life drawing for me was awesome, and I found out I rather enjoy charcoal reduction haha. I still have trouble with drawing faces, but now if I have someone to sit for me I can at least draw them and it will look damn close. I'm happy with this accomplishment but of course still pissed off with myself for not getting the drawing to look exactly like the person
I think the only assignments that frustrated me to no end were those self-portraits. Maybe its linked to the fact that I don't like having my picture taken? I don't know. Whatever the reason it just serves to further emphasize the fact that I need to practice drawing portraits more. Which I plan to do by hunting for random pictures of random people in random magazines to draw on the stack of random pieces of scratch paper that are patiently waiting for me in one of my cabinet drawers.
Rendering:
This class was "The Return of Lousy Time Management", the sequel. You think I would have learned my lesson from painting class last semester, but then again I'm stubborn. Y'know how you see something and you go "wow, I wish I knew how to do that" and then you learn how and you realize that your patience isn't what you thought it was? Story-of-my-life. WHY??? Slow and steady wins the race (unless of course you have mad skillz which then makes the whole thing a cake walk). I did learn a lot despite the fact that I was frustrated and impatient most of the time. I really did appreciate those critiques we did for all our assignments.
Just as it was at the end of last semester, I'm able to find all those mistakes in my personal drawings that I couldn't seem to put my finger on before...
Drawings: "Are you paying attention now?! Just LOOK at this!"
blackdog9: *gags*
...so I'm slowly making corrections and trying to improve on old stuff(I just can't let go of the past). May or may not put some of it up here, it'll depend on how embarrassed I feel at the time.
In other news, what is this I am reading about the Winding-Circle club being abandoned?!
Then again I shouldn't be one to talk, I'm such a horrible club member *is ashamed*
P.S.
If you have any suggestions as to what you think I should or would like to see me work on in my gallery be sure to drop me a line.
TALK TO ME PEOPLES.
